Torrey Pines will be trying to win its fifth straight Open Division title. No program, in any division, has won five straight section titles.

Mavericks in the way

The best rivalry in boys lacrosse is La Costa Canyon vs. Torrey Pines. Torrey has won nine section titles. The Mavericks have won eight. LCC is favored to win its ninth title this season.

POY dynasty

Torrey Pines has won four straight Player of the Year awards. La Costa Canyon’s Andrew Beacham won the honor in 2017. His brother, Ben Beacham, is favored to win the honor this season.

Sister-brother act

It’s hard to find a better sister-brother combo than Natalie Marvin and Nick Marvin at Bishop’s. Natalie is a sophomore, Nick a junior. Both are the top players in the section.

Nation’s best

St. Paul’s School for Girls from Brooklandville, Md., finished 2022 as the No. 1-ranked team in the nation. The Gators are making a West Coast swing and will play La Jolla on March 13 and Torrey Pines on March 14.
