The fact that many now don’t have an issue with his affair with a staffer and would like him to stay on reveals the sorry state of ethics in today’s society.
He broke the rules, and then he did the honourable thing (probably spurred on by the Star’s revelations), so to backtrack now for the sake of some public opinion would be a little hypocritical.
As Brian Mulroney used to say: “Dance with the one who brung ya.” Tory chose one side of the fence — so stick to the original position.
