In response to the letter concerning the Rte. 66 traffic light problems (“Route 66 traffic lights a problem,” Gazette, Feb. 11), I certainly concur with the writer’s call to address the problems associated with the traffic light at the intersection of Route 66 and Village Hill Road.
In addition to having to wait on Route 66 as only two or three cars get through the rapid green light, I have also been frustrated waiting on Village Hill Road as several sequences of light changes occur before finally getting a green light to turn left. Besides the need to fix the timing of the light, a designated right turning lane from Route 66 onto Village Hill Road is also needed. With some 300 people residing in houses, condos, co-housing and apartments, as well as those staff and clients accessing offices and services (ServiceNet, Christopher Heights Assisted Living, the Conway School, Pathlight, the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office, and Community Builders Inc. ) there is plenty of traffic to warrant a turning lane.
