    Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 1.62%

    The Nifty IT index closed 1.62 per cent up at 31434.85.

    NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

    Shares of Tech Mahindra(up 5.49 per cent), MPhasis(up 4.81 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(up 4.33 per cent), L&T Technology(up 3.75 per cent) and Coforge(up 2.78 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, HCL Technologies(down 0.42 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty IT index closed 1.62 per cent up at 31434.85.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 20.0 points at 18035.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 44.42 points at 61319.51.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 23 closed in the red.

    Shares of Vodafone Idea, Brightcom Group, YES Bank, Zomato Ltd. and Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Nucleus Soft, Foseco India, Vesuvius India, Global Health Ltd. and APL Apollo Tube hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sanwaria Consumer, Suumaya Lifestyle, LCC Infotech Ltd., Zee Learn and OrissaBengalCarrier hit their fresh 52-week lows.
