Thiruvananthapuram: Forensic expert Dr K Sasikala and the investigating team members visited the crime scene related to the mysterious death of the last-heir of Koodathil family Jayamadhavan Nair on Monday. He was found dead at his house at Karamana in 2017.
The decision to re-examine the crime scene was taken after a court directed the probe team to produce scientific evidence to prove that the injury found on the body of Jayamadhavan Nair was caused by some objects recovered from the crime scene.
A wooden piece of furniture, a piece of plywood, and an idol of God were recovered from the crime scene and two among these objects had blood stains of Jayamadhavan Nair. The probe team produced these objects before the court, but the court observed that there was no scientific evidence to prove specifically that the injuries were caused by these objects.
“Two objects had the fingerprints of the suspected murderer. The murder angle can be reaffirmed after scientifically confirming the object which was used for killing Jayamadhavan Nair. The deceased’s blood stains as well as the fingerprints of the suspect were found on two objects, but the third one does not have any blood stains or fingerprints. By scientifically assessing the wounds, we will be able to produce strong evidence before the court,” said the probe officer.
In the meantime, the probe team has approached the High Court seeking permission for a forensic examination of the ‘will’, which is claimed to have been prepared by Jayamadhavan Nair transferring the family wealth worth crores of rupees to his caretaker. The forensic examination of the will is very crucial in the case as the motive behind the murder cannot be proved without it, the officials said.
Jayamadhavan was the seventh member of his family to have died in a span of 26 years from 1991.
Jayamadhavan died on April 2, 2017, after reportedly falling from bed and the former caretaker of the family Raveendran Nair, and the housemaid Leela allegedly took him to hospital in an auto. The police later found some mismatches in the statements of Raveendran Nair, Leela and the auto rickshaw driver.
