Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.

Torrent Power(up 10.37%), Karma Energy(up 5.65%), KKV Agro(up 4.37%), KPI Green Energy(up 3.94%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 3.91%), CESC(up 3.20%), PTC India(up 2.99%), Orient Green Power Company(up 2.99%), Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(up 2.48%) and Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 2.44%) stood among the top gainers.

GE Power India Limited(down 5.06%), Energy Development Company(down 5.01%), Adani Transmissions(down 5.00%), ADANIGREEN(down 5.00%), Adani Power(down 4.99%), Jyoti Structures(down 4.82%), Hitachi Energy India(down 2.04%), Reliance Power(down 1.77%), DPSC(down 1.31%) and Indo Tech Transformers(down 1.27%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 86.0 points up at 18015.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 242.83 points at 61275.09.

Tech Mahindra(up 5.86%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 5.13%), Eicher Motors(up 4.27%), Reliance Industries(up 2.26%), Adani Enterprises(up 1.68%), SBI Life(up 1.61%), Bajaj Finserv(up 1.59%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.38%), Grasim Industries(up 1.34%) and Bharti Airtel(up 1.32%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever(down 1.21%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 1.13%), ITC(down 1.1%), Larsen & Toubro(down 0.76%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.64%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.63%), HDFC(down 0.55%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.41%), Axis Bank(down 0.28%) and Britannia Industries(down 0.25%) closed in the red.
