Seven to be elected unopposed to Lodhi Club managing committee

LUDHIANA: Tuesday being the last day of filing nominations for the 10 posts of the managing committee of Lodhi Club, situation was very tense for the probable contestants. Till the filing of this news, 13 nominations were received in total for all 10 posts, out of which two nominations were received for the posts of general secretary, bar secretary and mess secretary. In case of the situation remaining the same till the deadline of the filing nominations (which is later Tuesday evening), it would pave the way for seven contestants being elected unopposed for different posts.
Meanwhile as far as the candidates who have filed nominations for different posts are concerned, CA Nitin Mahjan, Dr. Charanjit Singh, and Nishit Singhania have filed nomination for the post of culture secretary, CA Vishal Garg for the post of finance secretary, Dr Sarju Ralhan for the post of vice president, Ram Sharma for sports secretary, and Ajay Mehta for joint secretary. Besides these candidates Jyoti Grover and Amrit Bhambri for post of bar secretary, Vibhor Garg and Harinder Singh for the post of mess secretary, Rajeev Gupta for executive member and Ritu Chandna for the post of executive member (reserved for female).
Wednesday is a big day for all contestants as it is the day when the nomination papers of candidates will be scrutinised by the election committee and a list of valid nominations will be displayed on the same day. On February 16 withdrawals will take place and final list of contesting candidates will be released by the election committee. February 17 has been reserved as the day of presentations while February 18 will be the last day of canvassing and elections will be held on February 19. The timing of voting has been fixed from 9am till 5pm and counting of votes and declaration of result will take place on the same day.
