Unfortunate: Third year medico of Durgapur Medical college killed, 2 injured in car accident

Durgapur: In an unfortunate incident, a 23-year-old medical student of a private medical college in Durgapur lost his life in a car accident on Monday. Two others inside the car have suffered severe head injuries and are currently under treatment.
The tragic accident happened around 12.30 pm when the medico was driving at high speed with two others in the car. After he lost control of the speeding car, it collided with a tree and an electric pole that was knocked over on impact near the college complex.
The deceased was a third-year medical student and a resident of Kotwali police station limits in Paschim Medinipur. The two severely injured persons involve a medical student hailing from Kolkata and a junior doctor, a resident of Assam, both are 23 years old.
Since the accident took place near the college, the security guard of the medical college and hospital staff were able to respond to the situation immediately. They rushed the trio to the hospital. Later, the hospital doctors declared the medico brought dead and two others were undergoing treatment.
Following this, the police were informed by the medical college administration. While investigating the case, the police said that the medico was driving his friend's car and the trio used to stay in rented accommodation outside the institute campus.
Gautam Ghosh, the principal of the private medical college told the Telegraph, “One of our students has died in the accident. Two others are undergoing treatment.”
Meanwhile, speed can be an addictive behaviour of an individual which gives them thrilling adventure. However, it is the choice that comes with severe consequences. Because of the grievous nature of the incident, the police officials have decided to conduct an awareness camp among medical college students as a precaution.
