Firehouse Subs' newest area location in Edwardsville will open March 1 in the Schnuck's Plaza next to GNC.
Billy Woods/IntelligencerTired of Subway? Looking for something different than Jimmy John’s? Firehouse Subs is coming to Edwardsville on March 1. Look for the shop at the north end of the strip center on Troy Road with Schnuck’s and next to GNC, just south of Governors’ Parkway.
EmmaJean Livingston, public relations manager for Firehouse Subs, answered several questions from a reporter on Tuesday. The shop will employ between 15 and 20 team members and the hours of operation are planned to be 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily.
“The Edwardsville restaurant will feature all of the iconic menu items that Firehouse Subs guests know and love,” Livingston said. “A top seller is the Hook & Ladder®, served Fully Involved® - loaded complete with mayonnaise, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and a kosher dill pickle on the side. Other fan-favorites include the Firehouse Meatball® and the Turkey Bacon Ranch™, among other hot specialty subs.”
She said while there won't be any special opening day offers, guests are encouraged to sign up for the Firehouse Subs loyalty program, Firehouse Rewards. Members are the first to know about promotions and new menu items through the Firehouse Subs App. Rewards points may be redeemed for food rewards like free subs and loyalty members get a free medium sub for their birthday annually.
Local restaurant owner, Chris Steinacher, initially joined the Firehouse Subs family as a general manager for the Collinsville location in 2017. Nearly three years later, the husband-wife duo of Chris and Evelyn Steinacher purchased the restaurant and will soon celebrate their third anniversary as owners. The couple is excited to expand the Firehouse Subs’ footprint and bring hot and hearty subs to the community of Edwardsville.
The Steinachers are dedicated to sharing the brand’s commitment to giving back through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®, which has granted more than $716,000 to first responders and public safety organizations in greater St. Louis, including Collinsville Fire Department, Greater St Louis County Fire Academy and St. Louis County Police Department. A portion of every purchase at any Firehouse Subs in the U.S. benefits the Foundation, which provides lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations across the country.
In the near future, the restaurant will host a soft opening for local first responders with friends and family through invite-only to prepare their team for opening day.
