MANGALURU: The fifth edition of the Mangaluru Lit Fest will be held at Dr TMA Pai International Convention Centre in Mangaluru on Saturday and Sunday.
The lit fest organised by the Bharat Foundation will be held with the theme 'The Idea of Bharat,' with 25 sessions of seminars. More than 55 orators will deliver talks on various topics, in the two-day literary festival. The inaugural session will be held on the theme, 'The Idea of Bharath In Amrithkal: Reclaiming the Right Path-The Way Forward'.
The lifetime achievement award will be conferred on Tukaram Poojary, president of Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre. Editorial director of Swarajya, R Jagannathan, and Nitte (deemed to be university) chancellor N Vinay Hegde, will be the guests at the inaugural session.
Foundation trustee Sunil Kulkarni said that quiz competitions will be conducted at the end of each session, and winners will be given books as prizes. The lit fest will have 16 book stalls, and two documentaries will be screened during the programme. A session on storytelling will be held for the children of class four, five and six, along with their parents. A workshop on Tulu script will be held at the venue. Sessions on regional languages will be attended by Laxminarayana Kajegadde, Jagadish Pai, Dayanand Kathalsar and Madhav representing Arebhashe, Konkani and Tulu languages, he said.
A 'harate katte' programme will provide a platform for a discussion with writers. There will be a session by actors Rishab Shetty, Prakash Belawadi, and others, as part of the lit fest. Various sessions include 'Culture, caricature and creativity,' 'Nationalism and regionalism,' 'Changing media landscape,' 'Idea of Bharath-Hindutva, dharma and the way forward,' 'Pride saga of Maratha naval forces,' 'Armed to lead-India's way ahead,' 'Need for shifting global narrative on India,' 'Yakshagana- new phases,' 'Stories of warriors,' 'Cinema and culture- when local is universal,' he said.
