Erode: TNCC president K S Alagiri alleged that AIADMK was creating an impression that it was distancing itself from the BJP due to fear of failure in Erode East.
Campaigning along with E V K S Elangovan in Erode East on Tuesday, Alagiri said the AIADMK has realised that they cannot win the election if they are with PM Modi or BJP state president K Annamalai.
“However, it’s only a deception. The AIADMK is like a satellite party of the BJP. It will keep revolving around the BJP. They will join together after the elections,” he said.
“AIADMK interim general secretary Edappadi K Palansiwami cannot run the party independently,’’ Alagiri said.
On the other hand, he pointed out that there was cordiality between alliance partners of Congress. `Our alliance partners are campaigning for us. Why are you not campaigning with your allies?’’ he asked the AIADMK.
Earlier, at a press conference too Alagiri reiterated that while the DMK followed alliance dharma, the AIADMK failed to adhere to it. “The DMK asked the Congress to contest in Erode east, since the seat was given to us in 2021. But the AIADMK, instead of allocating the Erode East seat to the Tamil Manila Congress, which contested in 20021, has snatched away the seat,’’ Alagiri said.
Talking about property tax hike, electricity tariff hike, he said that it was an unavoidable one when the state needed funds for developmental works. “This will not reflect in the election,” he said.
Answering a question on proposed ‘Pen’ monument on the Marina beach, Alagiri said that such monuments have been installed across the country. “Opposition parties were making it an issue for political mileage,” he stated.
