LUDHIANA: The police commissionerate made the most of
Valentine’s Day celebrations by trying to bring warring couples together. Police officials arranged a movie date for couples who had previously filed complaints against each other in the women’s cell and had reconciled. City police took 20 such couples for a movie date on Tuesday.
Before this, the couples gathered at the Women’s Cell in Rishi Nagar, where officials congratulated them on the begninning another innings with flowers and sweets.
Additional deputy commissioner of police - (ADCP) headquarters Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said, “In the past few days, some couples who had filed complaints against each other in the women’s cell were reconciled. To celebrate the beginning of a new chapter of their lives, we decided to take them on a movie date. Ludhiana police entered into a tie-up with the PVR and movie tickets were provided by the PVR under CSR activity. Flowers and sweets were also given to the couples.”
One of the couples, who have been married for two decades, said that they had a matrimonial dispute for one year. However, they said that with counselling by the police and women’s cell, they reconciled and started living together.
They also said that they had no idea what Valentine’s Day was about and celebrated the occasion because of the city police.
Another couple, married for the past three years, who also have a toddler, said that their case has been in the women cell for three months. They said that they reconciled after police counselling and were happy to celebrate Valentine’s Day by watching a movie together.
