NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) will construct modern entry gates at five locations connecting Greater Noida with Noida and Ghaziabad and revamp 12 major rotaries across the township at an estimated Rs 20 crore cost.
The project aims at showing Greater Noida as an emerging hub for multi-national companies and industries in the National Capital Region, said officials with the GNIDA.
Officials further said that five entry points, Char Murti roundabout, Hindon Bridge (Sector 1) and Kulesra from the Noida side and Tigri Gate (Chipyana Khurd) and Eastern Peripheral Expressway from the Ghaziabad side, will get unique architectural designs on the lines of Noida, which has such gates at its Delhi border and other entry points.
The revamp of the rotaries, including Delta Chowk, the Jaypee and Sirsa roundabouts, and the GNIDA Depot rotary, will include repairs and landscaping. Officials said the consultant chosen for the work would design the rotaries, the traffic islands, and adjacent areas along the rotaries to bring about uniformity in design and material palette of elements used within Greater Noida, as well as streamline traffic movement. It would also have to keep the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) and Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure Centre manuals in mind, they added.
Of Rs 20 crore, Rs 15 crore is for designing the entry points and the remaining for the rotaries, said officials, adding that the project work has started. The Authority has invited applications from consultants and will hire one soon.
