Bullet from neighbor's home left hole in Pheasant Run apartment

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Elizabeth Griffith and Logan Chaffin noticed a bullet hole in their Pheasant Run apartment on Feb. 9, but assumed it was tied to the Feb. 5 homicide in the complex, according to police.
Turns out it wasn't linked to the killing.
Griffith and Chaffin called police Monday night to report it, and officers determined the hole came from a neighbor's apartment, according to police.
Police interviewed that neighbor — William Pinnick, 37, of Lafayette. Pinnick said he accidentally discharged a round Feb. 9 while he was cleaning his firearm. He did not report it, according to police.
That bullet traveled into Griffith and Chaffin's apartment, according to police.
Police jailed Pinnick on suspicion of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, according to police.
