Singhal released on two-month conditional bail

Ranchi: Suspended IAS officer and MGNREGA scam accused, Pooja Singhal, was released on conditional bail for two months on Monday by a lower court here following a Supreme Court order.
The enforcement directorate (ED) arrested Singhal on May 11, 2022, in connection with the MGNREGA scam and money laundering cases. During the raids, the ED seized huge amounts of money from her husbands chartered accountant.
The SC ordered the two-month bail to Singhal with the condition that she would not try to influence the ED witnesses in the cases.
Earlier, the SC earlier also allowed one-month bail to Singhal for the treatment of her ailing daughter following which she surrendered before the special PMLA court on February 4. The apex court has now allowed her bail for further treatment of her daughter.
The Birsa Munda Central Jail superintendent Hamid Akhtar said, “We released her after the order in this regard was served to us by the lower court.”
