Meghalaya driver wins award for innovating automatic car sanitizer

GUWAHATI: A cab driver of Meghalaya, Gautam Gurung, was awarded the Dinanath Pandey Smart Idea Innovation Award here in Guwahati on Sunday for his 'automatic car sanitizer'.
Gurung, who had to face a lot of hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic, innovated a mechanism that he installed in his Maruti Alto car. As per this mechanism, when a passenger opens the door with the handle, sanitizer is automatically sprayed on the seats and rest of the space.
Gurung exhibited his model at the two-day 'Innovation Festival' at the Regional Science Centre, Guwahati, on Saturday and Sunday.
"As cleanliness is part of our life, I innovated this idea, which will keep us clean and hygienic. So, passengers will also be happy," said Gurung.
