GUWAHATI: Nasma Begum, 34, was arrested in Morigaon district on Monday for allegedly leaking out the question paper of a recruitment examination for the health department conducted under tight police security in the state a day earlier.
About 3.95 lakh candidates applied for the recruitment test held to fill up 812 posts (non-technical).
"We suspect that an electronic gadget was carried inside the examination centre in Lakhimpur district from where Nasma appeared for the test. The answer booklet and the portion of the question paper that went viral on social media was that of hers. Preliminary investigation says she only took clippings," a senior police officer said, adding she has been booked for hatching criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and cheating under the IT Act. She will be presented before a local court in Lakhimpur on Tuesday.
Even as the government has asked the DC to probe the incident, the opposition parties have cornered the BJP-led government, questioning its commitment to give jobs to one lakh unemployed every year.
