The Washington PostDemocracy Dies in Darkness

Opinion If D.C. won’t protect residents, I’m glad Congress will

Regarding the Feb. 10 Metro article “House rejects 2 D.C. bills”:

I’m a liberal Democrat and a 44-year D.C. resident, but I’m nonetheless glad that Congress is moving to block our so-called criminal law reform. I’m fully aware that House Republicans are doing this mainly for political grandstanding, but I’m also tired of our D.C. Council doing so much to weaken law enforcement.

Council members, please stop protecting the criminals and start doing more to protect ordinary residents.
