Assam Police hears 500 civilians' grievances
GUWAHATI: Assam Police has attended grievances of over 500 civilians across the state on Monday, the first day of the new initiative taken by the police department for public grievance redressal by senior officers.
Assam DGP GP Singh, after taking charge on January 31, announced that the new mechanism would be introduced in the state as part of police reform to provide a platform to people to get direct access to senior police officers such as SPs, DIGs and above, for two hours on all working days.
He believes that the initiative will reduce the gap between the public and police and help in addressing public grievances, which often fall into deaf ears as often alleged by people.
