GURGAON: Two cops were allegedly thrashed by a family of five in Sanjay Gram colony of Sector 13 on Monday when they went to resolve a car parking issue.
The accused have been identified as Baljit, Nishant, Sonia, Rajesh Devi and Deepak.
According to a complaint filed by sub-inspector Kartar Singh, the accused family had parked their car outside the gate of their neighbours, which led to a bitter altercation in the morning. When the accused began hurling abuse at their neighbour, Ruchi Yadav, and threatening her with life, she dialled the police control room for assistance.
"After I called the control room, a head constable arrived at the scene to resolve the issue. But all five members of the family started charging at him and did not follow law and order," Yadav said. The head constable said when he tried to seize the car for illegal parking, he was obstructed by the family. "When I asked for the car keys, the family members hurled abuse at me and got violent. So I called for help," the cop said.
Thereafter, the sub-inspector reached the spot and asked the family to remove the car. But they manhandled him too, and he was forced to draw his service pistol.
"When we asked them to hand over the car keys, they started abusing us. Later, Deepak and Nishant started physically assaulting us. Sonia and Rajesh Devi attacked us from behind. Thereafter, I had to pull out my service pistol to save my life," said Singh.
Based on the complaint, all five family members have been booked under IPC sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 34 (people commit criminal conduct in pursuit of a common intention), 353 (assault or to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
