KALYAN: Two workers sustained minor injuries after a major fire broke out at a chemical company at Badlapur MIDC on Sunday afternoon.
Around 15 workers were on the company premises when the fire erupted of which two were unable to escape. Fire brigade officials rescued the two who were admitted to a private hospital and they were undergoing treatment until late evening.
The fire was reported around 12.30 pm at Gagangiri Chemical Company on Kalyan-Pune Link Road. Around 10 fire vehicles were deployed to control the fire which was put out after three hours. Fire officials said the reason for the fire is still unknown.
As a precaution, the traffic police kept the road out of bounds for vehicular traffic. Vehicles headed towards Pune were stranded. Until evening, cooling operations were on.
