Knoxville-area high school girls basketball rankings: Oak Ridge joins top 10

Here are the top 10 Knoxville-area girls' high school basketball teams ranked by Knox News.

1. Bearden (28-0): The Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated and one the top teams in the state. However, its past two wins against strong competition were close, defeating Heritage 54-49 on Tuesday and Cleveland 44-40 on Thursday. Last week: Ranked No. 1.

2. Alcoa (27-2): Alcoa has been on a big win streak since losing Jan. 3 to Bearden on a game won on a game-winning shot by Miss Basketball finalist for Class 4A Avery Treadwell. Last week: Ranked No. 2.

3. Christian Academy of Knoxville (23-5): CAK has won its last 14 games. Its last win was in the DII-A District 1 championship against, beating The King's Academy 55-37 on Saturday. Madi Jones led all scorers with 17 points. Last week: Ranked No. 4.

4. Gatlinburg-Pittman (22-5): The Lady Highlanders won their two games last week in blowout fashion — 61-29 against Fulton on Tuesday and 53-17 against Austin East on Friday. Junior Maddy Newman had 23 points and 10 rebounds against Fulton. Last week: Ranked No. 5.

5. Heritage (22-5): The Lady Mountaineers lost both of it their two games: a five-point loss to Bearden and a six-point loss to Seymour. Heritage is on a three-game losing streak but is still one of the best teams in the area. Last week: Ranked No. 3.

6. Sevier County (21-6): Sevier County won its lone game last week against Karns, 67-43. The Bearettes start their District 2-4A tournament on Friday and will play Jefferson County. Last week: Ranked No. 6.

7. Knoxville Catholic (16-12): Junior guard Sydney Mains scored 23 points in a rivalry win against Knoxville Webb on Saturday. Catholic also beat Girls Preparatory School on Thursday. Last week: Ranked No. 7.

8. Greeneville (21-7): Senior Lauren Bailey scored 23 points in a 61-55 win over Cocke County on Tuesday and 18 points in a 66-38 win over Science Hill on Friday. Last week: Ranked No. 8.

9. Farragut (20-9): The Lady Admirals were led by senior Maelyn McNealy who scored 15 points in both wins against William Blount on Tuesday and Morristown East on Thursday. Last week: Ranked No. 9.

10. Oak Ridge (18-9): The Lady Wildcats won two of their three games in the last week of the regular season. Sophomore Ze’Yana Stewart had a strong week: 24 points against Alcoa and 22 points against Fulton. Last week: Not ranked.
