A car drove through the front of the Lids store at San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf early Monday morning during an attempted burglary, police said.

"On February 13, 2023 at approximately 3:36 a.m., San Francisco Police Officers from Central Station responded to the area of Jefferson and Jones Streets regarding a burglary in progress," SFPD told SFGATE. "Officers arrived on scene and located a sedan that had driven into a business on the 300 block of Jefferson Street."

A photo allegedly taken of the smashed storefront was shared on Reddit Monday. The image shows police tape around broken glass and buckled doors and windows.

Police say that while the car used was identified at the scene, the suspect or suspects had fled by the time SFPD showed up, and no arrests were made. Officers later met with the business owner to assess the damage. It's not clear if anything was taken from the store.

The store owner and a Lids representative could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.

SFPD's burglary unit is asking anyone with any information on the incident to contact them at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411.
