Bishop’s Rory Engh wins Division V shortboard and longboard events at the Scholastic Surf Series

By collecting a pin 2:55 into the match, the Eagles senior, ranked No. 2 in the state, captured the 108-pound title while leading Granite Hills to its first CIF-San Diego Section Division II team championship.

Jackson, who averages 21.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game this year, has already surpassed 1,500 points for his career. The senior scored 24 points and collected 17 rebounds as the Warhawks downed Mira Mesa, 76-51.

A junior, Chiodini collected the goal that turned a 3-2 deficit into an eventual 3-3 tie with Coronado. As a result, the Dons will host an Open Division playoff game against Eastlake as the No. 2 seed.

The Air Force Academy-bound senior captured his fourth section championship, this one in Division I. He’s ranked No. 5 in the state in the 120-pound weight class.

Averaging 24.5 points, the senior led the Komets to victories over Canyon Hills and Crawford. He added 12 rebounds versus Crawford and 13 more against Canyon Hills in City Central League action.

Scoring 15 points and pulling down an equal number of rebounds, the senior guard led the Titans to a convincing 63-20 victory over Otay Ranch, earning the Titans a Division I playoff game.

Pinning his 162-pound opponent in 3:36, Iten captured his third consecutive Division IV title and led the Vikings to their third section title. Holtville topped Imperial Valley League foe Imperial, 271-221.

A senior, Engh notched her third double-double of the season by capturing the Division V shortboard competition and the longboard rivalry at the Scholastic Surf Series.
