Man kills friend, later surrenders in Thane

THANE: Infuriated by a friend calling his father a ‘murderer’, an alcoholic smashed the former’s head with a stone and later surrendered to Daighar police.
Deceased Amjal Khan, 23 and accused Nilesh Kamble, 24, were good friends for past few years and recently around 3am, they had gone to the Hillock area near an abundant quarry at Bholenath Nagar for drinks, said Sachin Gawade, senior inspector of Shil-Daighar police.
The officer added that Kamble’s father has been in jail for murder since the past few years and the deceased knew about it.
“The two guzzled down a few pegs after which the deceased started abusing the father of the accused, and later called him a ‘murderer’. The verbal spat turned ugly and the duo started assaulting each other. Later, the accused picked up a stone and repeatedly hit him on his head, and chest, thereby, killing him on the spot,” Gawade said.
The accused then fled the spot and came back home in the morning. Later, he walked to the Daighar police station and confessed about the crime that he had committed.
The police immediately placed him under arrest, and registered a case of murder against him. the police then carried out the panchanama of the spot.
