Car crash near 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road leaves 1 pedestrian dead

Lucian Mosoianu, 36, was found dead on Saturday night after a vehicle collision near 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 11, Phoenix police responded to a call of a collision, Sergeant Brian Bower said. "When officers got to the scene, they saw an adult man lying in the street," Bower said.

The man was then pronounced dead on the scene. As per the detectives, the vehicle was driving westbound on McDowell Road and struck the pedestrian while he was crossing diagonally through the intersection.

"The driver of the SUV was evaluated for intoxication, processed for DUI, and was cited and released from the scene," Bower said.

The accident happened just a few hours after an 8-year-old child was killed in a hit-and-run just three miles away on 67th Avenue and Thomas Road.
