RAJKOT: Three people, who had opened fire at an angadia firm employee and robbed him of Rs 40 lakh cash in Gandhidham town of Kutch on January 28, were arrested from Goa.
Seven teams were formed to nab the assailants and the cops had scanned footage of nearly 100 CCTVs installed in Gandhidham, Anjar, and Adipur.
Those arrested were Chhatrapal Solanki, a resident of Anjar, Manu Thakor, a resident of Mehsana, and Suraj Solanki of Palanpur. They had targeted the victim Uttam Prajapati, an employee of Purnima Angadiya, near his house when he was returning with a bag containing Rs 40 lakh cash. They fired one round at his leg and escaped.
Investigation revealed that the trio had escaped to Goa from where they were nabbed by a team of the Gandhidham crime branch.
After the robbery, they disposed of the bag and documents on Shinai Road in Adipur and fled to Bhavnagar in a car with the cash. Police also recovered 350-gram gold worth Rs 20.30 lakh which they had purchased from the looted money. They also sent Rs 7.35 lakh to two villages in Kutch through hawala, which was recovered by the cops.
