Slain gangster’s father found dead, cremated

Bathinda: Slain gangster Harjinder Singh alias Vicky Gounder’s father Mehal Singh was found dead on railway track near Dabwali Dhab village, falling under Bathinda-Sri Ganganagar section of Northern Railway.
Mehal is suspected to have committed suicide as he was depressed after his son’s death.
Gounder, along with Prema Lahoria and another person, was killed in an encounter at Hindu Malkot village in Rajasthan on January 26, 2018.
Mehal had left home at Sarawan Bodla village near Malout on February 6 evening, telling his wife Jaswinder Kaur that he was going to meet someone.
The railway police found his body on railway tracks on Tuesday.
As the body was not identified, it was kept at Malout civil hospital, where one of the relatives of Mehal identified it.
His last rites were conducted at Sarawan Bodla on Thursday afternoon.
Malout DSP Balkar Singh said it appears to be a a case of suicide and the GRP has carried out legal formalities under Section 174 (unnatural death) of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
