Thieves kill two dogs, steal sandalwood tree from farm near Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: Unidentified people killed two dogs and stole a sandalwood tree from a farm at Posaripalayam in Coimbatore district.
The farmland belongs to Shasha Spinning Mills. Durai, who has been employed as a security person, is staying in the farm. Three Indian mongrels were kept there for security purposes.
On Monday morning, Durai found two of the three dogs dead and alerted D Senthil Kumar, who is a clerk in the spinning mills.
After informing his owners, Senthil Kumar rushed to the farm. When he walked around the farm to check if there was any suspicious activity, he found that a sandalwood tree had been cut. The trunk of the tree, measuring around five feet in length and 63 cm in circumference, was missing.
He lodged a complaint with the Selvapuram police. A case was registered under sections 379 (theft), 447 (criminal trespass) and 429 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal) of the IPC. The police visited the spot and conducted an inquiry.
