SIRTI Football Tournament : Liwa Sarei claim women's football title

Imphal, January 24 2023: Liwa Sarei were crowned the women's champions in the 15th Sirti Football Tournament organised by Sirti Olympic Association (SAO) at Liwa Sarei Ground.

Liwa Sarei women's team beat Monsang Pantha YCC (MPYCC) by 3-1 goals on penalties after a 2-2 regulation time draw in the final match today.

MPYCC fought back twice to salvage a 2-2 regulation time draw as W Salomi opened the account for Liwa Sarei in the 3rd minute only to be equalised by MPYCC's Kh Peningchim in the 16th minute before W Gracemi's goal in the 17th minute for Liwa Sarei was equalised yet again by W Shangningla in the 57th minute.

In the shoot-out, W Gracemi, W Salomi and Sh Sundary found the target as only Kh Peningchim made it for MPYCC. The day also saw Japhou lifting pre-veteran men's football title beating Liwa Changning team by 2-1 goals in a keenly contested final match.

Liwa Changning entered into the break with a 1-0 lead courtesy of Ng Phamshir's 22nd minute strike but Sh Mosaingam pulled level for Japhou in the 62nd minute before Ng Samson hit the winner in the 74th minute.
