What happened at the Monterey Park mass shooting?
According to USA Today, 11 people have died and nine are injured from a mass shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park, California, on Saturday evening, just hours after nearby Lunar New Year celebrations.
The gunman, 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, brought a magazine-fed, semiautomatic assault pistol to the dance hall and fired 42 shots, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said. Around 20 minutes later, he was disarmed by Brandon Tsay, whose family runs the dance hall. Tran was found dead Sunday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
