NEW DELHI: Former Western Air Command chief Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar on Tuesday vouched for the authenticity of the Balakot air strikes and said one should not believe in the “lies” being spread by people like Digvijaya Singh who questioned the strikes carried out by the IAF against Pak-based terror training centres.
“This gentleman (Digvijaya Singh) doesn’t know what he is talking about. He has been misinformed and not aware of facts,” said Air Marshal Nambiar in a video, which was circulated by BJP on social media. He added, “Please don’t believe his lies … be rest assured that Balakot air strikes was a thumping success.”
The former IAF officer said he had taken over as WAC chief two days after the Balakot air strikes and he was well aware about what had transpired. “Let me assure you our brave pilots had achieved all the objectives which had been set for them,” he asserted.
BJP also circulated video of Singh from a rally in Jammu where he said the government made tall claims about air strikes but did not give any proof. IAF warplanes had on February 26, 2019, destroyed terrorist training camps in Balakot inside Pakistan.
