KANPUR: Clarifying his stand on party leader Swami Parsad Maurya’s statement on Ramcharitmanas, SP leader Shivpal Yadav on Tuesday said that “it is his (Maurya) personal statement”.
Shivpal, who was talking to media persons in his assembly segment Jaswantnagar in Etawah, said, “This is Swami Prasad Maurya’s own personal statement. The party has nothing to do with it. His statement is not the statement of the party. We are the people who follow the ideals of Lord Ram and Krishna.” He attacked BJP and asked the media, “whether the BJP people are following the path shown by Lord Ram?” He added, “God never lies, but they (BJP) are selling Lord Ram in the name of politics.”
The SP leader also hit back at deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.
He said, “Keshav Prasad Maurya was talking big things during recent by-polls in Mainpuri. The public has taught him a lesson. In future, too, we will show him how the elections are fought.”
He said that people are joining SP everywhere. “The mass base of the
Samajwadi Party is increasing. An atmosphere has been created against the BJP and it has to be driven out in the upcoming elections and SP has to be brought in,” said Shivpal.
To recall, Swami Parsad Maurya had kicked up a controversy by alleging that certain verses of the Ramcharitmanas promoted social discrimination.
