Association demands release of auto driver

Imphal, January 24 2023: The Auto-Rickshaw Owners' and Drivers' Association, Lilong has demanded the release of auto driver Md Abdul Salam of Lilong Yangbi Leikai who was arrested on 'alleged false charges by Imphal East Commandos for carrying brown sugar' .

The president of the association in a press release condemned the arrest of Md Abdul Salam who went to drop off a passenger from Lilong Bazar to Kyamgei on the evening of January 22, 2023 .

It may be noted that the passenger was carrying the brown sugar and the driver has no relation with it.

In view of the above, the association demanded the unconditional release of Md Abdul Salam by January 28, 2023 failing which the association will be compelled to take up a series of agitation along with the support of the public.
