Gandhi told reporters in Jammu that the yatra has achieved something powerful by making it clear that there are two visions for India - one that is hate-filled, arrogant and cowardly, and another that is love-filled, all-embracing and brave and which has millions of supporters.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday termed as "ridiculous" senior party leader Digvijay Singh's remark that the government has given no proof of its claim that there was a surgical strike across the LoC, and said it won't overshadow the achievements of the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.

Gandhi told reporters in Jammu that the yatra has achieved something powerful by making it clear that there are two visions for India - one that is hate-filled, arrogant and cowardly, and another that is love-filled, all-embracing and brave and which has millions of supporters.

"We don't appreciate Digvijay Singh's views. We are absolutely crystal clear that the armed forces do a job exceptionally well and they do not need to provide proof for anything they do. I am sorry to say that what our senior leader said is ridiculous," said Gandhi.

On Monday, Singh had said at a rally in Jammu that the central government has not given any proof of its claim that there was a surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC).

He went on to say that the Congress had played a pivotal role in the independence of the country and fought the British, and alleged that some right-wing people were hand in glove with the latter and their leaders, like Savarkar, propounded the two-nation theory. "We are a democratic party and not a dictatorship. We don't run our party with principles of coercion like BJP and RSS, where there are no conversations, which is exemplified by the decisions like demonetisation and GST."

Gandhi said he is clear that the hatred and violence being spread by RSS and BJP must be opposed. "I can see how the hatred and violence that BJP is spreading damages the country..."
