Sukrunye, festival of Chakhesang community at Phek
NPF Leader of Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today advocate for clean election in the state election and urged every voters that unless we submit ourselves and practice, it can never be materialized.
Addressing the Sükrünye, the premier festival of Chakhesang community as the inaugural guest at Phek town local ground, the NPF leader stated that we know the need of clean election and its importance but we fail to abide to our conscience and fall to the temptation of our short term desire and wants.
He asserted that, if we expect a good government and good leadership, we must surrender ourselves against money and power and submit to God then only we can produce true leaders for the Naga people.
Azo also said that we do not realize how much powerful each voter had to change our society to a better and prosperous one but once we sell our vote, we do not have that power to change our society. “And we regret for selling our vote for electing the wrong leaders only thereafter”, he added.
Dwelling on the importance and significance of the festival, Azo Nienu said that the objective of the Sükrünye festival is to renew the body and soul and make oneself holy by cleansing the body and the soul. He said by observing those, we expect blessings and unity amongst every individual and communities.
He also said that the festival is significant as it marks initiation of young people to adulthood and is considered an “identity mark, specially the Chakhesang and Angami tribes”.
He, therefore, called upon the people that with the celebration of Sükrünye, let us all cleanse our body and soul in a Christian manner and forgive and forget the past deeds and allow bygones be bygones and renew our brotherhood and thereby strengthened the Naga brotherhood with vigour and a sense of oneness.
