Imphal, January 24 2023: Two active workers of RPF/ PLA have been arrested by Imphal West commandos from their respective houses.

Acting on specific tip off about presence of some active workers of RPF/PLA in and around Kwakeithel area, a team of Imphal West commandos led by inspector P Achouba OC Imphal West commando carried out a search operation at Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai and Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai under the command of M Amit, Additional SP (Operation) .

During the operation, two active workers of RPF/PLA identified as Tourangbam Sanjit alias Nongdren (33) s/o Thambou of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai and Lendl Potsangbam alias Luching Nganba (32) s/o Arunkumar of Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai were arrested from their respective houses by the commando team, sources informed.

Two mobile handsets, five ATM cards, one debit card, one laptop and one four-wheeler (TIAGO) were recovered from their possession.

During preliminary interrogation Tourangbam Sanjit disclosed that he joined the outfit in 2008 and is presently working under the command of self-styled commander Puthiba of Finance/Goods and Tax section of the outfit who is presently staying in Myanmar.

He further disclosed that under the instruction of Puthiba, he along with his associate Lendl Potsangbam made monetary demand and extorted huge amounts of money from private institutions, businessmen and general public in and around Imphal area and handed over the money to his commander for their party fund.

During verification of Lendl Potsangbam, he disclosed that he started working for the said organization since October, 2022, said the sources.

The arrested persons and the seized articles have been handed over to Singjamei police station.
