No water for two days, society in Noida's Sector 82 relies on tankers
Bereft of adequate supply, they are left with no option but to pay for water from tankers.
NOIDA: About 400 residents of HIG Swarnim Vihar in Sector 82 are without water since Monday, which the Noida Authority attributes to a damaged valve in the main supply line.
However, the residents claim that similar problems recur at least 2-3 times in a year and the Noida Authority is yet to come up with a permanent solution despite repeated complaints. Bereft of adequate supply, they are left with no option but to pay for water from tankers.
“Our taps are running dry. Due to very low pressure, water is not reaching the tanks and those who live on third and fourth floors are the worst hit,” said Surendra Kumar, RWA president of HIG Swarnim Vihar.
Kumar said that the supply stopped on Monday and by Tuesday morning, the society’s residents had to rely on tankers. “No timely information has been given by the Authority officials. And this is not the first instance of water shortage. We face water supply shortages at least 2-3 times a year and need a permanent solution.”
An official from the Noida Authority said that a spindle of a valve in the supply line loosened which demanded repair. “Initially there was water supply with low pressure, but to carry out the repair work, the supply had to be completely shut. We are providing tankers till the work is completed,” he said.
