INDORE: A human skeleton was found in a sewage pit inside Indore airport on Monday night, triggering alarm. A forensic investigation is underway but preliminary reports suggest the skeleton is a year old.
If it turns out to be true, it’s indeed worrying that someone got into the protected area, dug a pit and buried a body without being noticed.
Airport police station in-charge Sanjay Shukla said that they received a call around 9:30pm from airport security in-charge Vinod Soni that a human skeleton was found by an employee in a pit while doing electrification work. On Soni’s complaint, a case was recorded and a police team went to the scene, along with forensic experts.
“Inside the outer boundary of Indore airport, a 4.5-ft-deep pit was found connected to a nullah for sewage collection. Here, the skeleton was found. It was recovered and sent for a post-mortem examination. We are yet to receive the report,” said Shukla.
Forensic expert Dr BL Mandloi said, “Based on the height, the skeleton seems to be that of a young person. It appears to be at least a year old. We did not find any article near the skeleton for identification.”
