Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.22%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Alkem Laboratories(up 0.36 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Granules India(down 6.57 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 4.68 per cent), Biocon(down 4.45 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 3.45 per cent) and Cipla(down 2.53 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.22 per cent down at 12440.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 226.35 points at 17891.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 773.69 points at 60205.06.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., , , PNB and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of , , , Upsurge Seeds of Agriculture Ltd. and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , Vikas Proppant & Gr, , Inds. and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
