Boy dies after drinking insecticide in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A 5-year-old boy died on Monday after consuming insecticide on January 20. The boy, P Dharshith, from Thilagar Street at Seeranaickenpalayam, thought it was soft drink and consumed it. Police said the boy’s father R Prakash, 32, is a marketing representative at a private pharmaceuticals company in the city.
On Friday night, the boy developed severe pain in abdomen. His father, upon questioning the boy, found that he consumed insecticide. Immediately, Prakash called an ambulance and rushed his son to CMCH. The boy, however, died on Monday. The RS Puram police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC. The body was handed over to family members after a postmortem.
