Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.28%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 3.55 per cent), Tata Motors(up 3.37 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 3.35 per cent), TIINDIA(up 1.97 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(up 1.74 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bharat Forge(down 1.0 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.34 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 0.2 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(down 0.1 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.28 per cent up at 12960.85.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 0.25 points at 18118.3, while the BSE Sensex stood up 37.08 points at 60978.75.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.

Shares of , , FSN E-Comm(Nykaa), PNB and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of RBM Infracon Ltd., , , and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dollex Agrotech Ltd., , Omaxe, and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
