25 murder cases filed by South Goa police in 2022

Margao: Twenty-five cases of murders were registered at various police stations across South Goa in 2022. The figure was 16 in 2021, police records reveal. Of the 25 cases, police have been able to crack 23 by arresting the accused. In 2021, police had succeeded in cracking 14 of the 16 cases.
In 2022, seven cases of attempt to murder were registered by South Goa police, a significant decline from 18 in 2021. All the accused involved in the seven cases were arrested.
Among the two unresolved cases of murder of 2022 is that of an unidentified woman whose skeletal remains were found at an isolated place at Ambeghat, Sanguem. The postmortem examination had revealed that the woman was pregnant at the time of her death and that she was in the age group of 18-22. The cause of death was stated to be strangulation.
Citizens have voiced their concern over the rise in the cases of murder and the frequent occurrences of street violence.
