Prayagraj: Several programmes marking the 126th birth anniversary of renowned freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose were held across the city on Monday.
In an event, organised at Subhas crossing at Civil Lines, students of classes 8 to 12 from 29 schools and higher education institutions of the city participated. The message of road safety too was given by the students by forming a human chain. Officers and employees of all stake holder departments of road safety, NGOs, voluntary organisations, social organizations, NSS, NCC and scout guide students and civil defence officials and personnel and representatives participated in this human chain.
The human chain was formed around the Subhash crossing and the routes leading to all four directions i.e. to All Saints Cathedral, Medical College, CORE office and SP road. District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri garlanded the statue of Bose.
At an event held at UP Rajshri Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), the contribution of ‘Netaji’ in Indian freedom struggle was remembered. On this occasion, the road safety month programme, as directed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, was also organised.
At Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir, the day was observed as Prakaram Diwas. Likewise, the protesting student leaders of the Allahabad University (AU) too paid homage to Netaji.
