DALTONGANJ: A gang rape survivor has gone missing from Latehar district.
The mother of the survivor registered a missing complaint at Chandwa police station on Saturday and the police lodged a case the next day, local police said on Monday. Sources said the survivor was to appear in the civil court of Latehar this month.
The officer in-charge of Chandwa police station, Amit Gupta said, “The mother of the gang rape survivor submitted a written complaint to us on January 21 about the disappearance of her daughter. We have begun our investigation.”
Gupta added that all the six accused in the gang rape case were caught and jailed. However, one of the accused is currently out on bail. “The gang rape occurred in May last year,” he said, adding that police are probing if any of the accused is involved in the missing case.
