Bhadohi carpets to Bulandshahr crockery, districts to take centre stage at UP Diwas

NOIDA: The three-day UP Diwas celebrations will start from Tuesday at Shilp Haat in Sector 33A.
Following the theme of ‘employment and investment’, the celebrations will witness exhibition stalls by various departments, including Noida Authority, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development (YEIDA) and the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration.
Officials said that over 25 stalls of various UP districts will showcase their locally-made products under one district one product (ODOP) initiative.
While Azamgarh will showcase black pottery, other stalls will have leather products from Agra, ceramic crockery from Bulandshahr, ready-made garments from Noida, home furnishings from Baghpat, and carpets from Bhadohi.
“Other than ODOP, the investors of Noida authority, GNIDA and YEIDA will also showcase their products to promote investment avenues in the region and employment opportunities through 40 stalls. The exhibition will also be followed by cultural dance performance and musical performance by singer Kailash Kher,” said Prabhash Kumar, ACEO, Noida Authority.
The event will be inaugurated by Dr Mahesh Sharma, member of parliament from GB Nagar along with Surendra Singh Nagar, MP Rajya Sabha. It will be followed by a folk dance performance by local artists from GB Nagar, officials said.
Cultural performances will also include Mayur dance and flower holi by Govind Tiwari and his group from Mathura.
The second day of the celebration will witness Kailash Kher’s musical performance from 7pm. Before that, other local artists from Meerut, Noida, Firozabad will perform folk song, kathak dance followed by kavi sammelan.
The officials said that panel discussions on topics like traditional grain will also be organised between farmers and agriculturists. The Noida Authority has been made the nodal agency for organising the event.
Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari conducted an online meeting with officials from all the three industrial authorities, district administration and other departments to review the preparations for the three-day event.
