Panaji: The weather was partly cloudy since Tuesday morning, as India Meteorological Department (IMD), Panaji, announced the possibility of light rain at isolated places over both districts on January 24 and 25 due to moisture incursion.
The weather had been dry for more than a couple of weeks and though the nip in the air had reduced slightly during the past few days, the mercury had dropped below 18C for a couple of days during this month.
“The increase in cloudiness is due to a cyclonic circulation over north interior Tamil Nadu, which has triggered increased incursion of moisture in lower levels of atmosphere over Goa,” Rahul M, scientist at IMD, Panaji, said.
But the rainfall may be possibly light to very light in intensity and may occur at one or two places in both districts, the scientist stated.
From Thursday, the weather is likely to be dry for the next three days and pleasant, as it has been for over a fortnight.
The month’s average up to Tuesday was 19.5 C , one of the lowest during the past five years. The meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of haze or shallow fog at isolated places over Goa till Saturday.
