St Xavier’s told to induct council before February 4
Panaji: On Tuesday, the deputy collector held a meeting with the principal of St Xavier’s College and student protestors of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), during which she asked the institute to conduct the induction of the elected student council for the academic year 2022-23 before February 4.
“The college officials have been told to hold a meeting between January 24 and 28 to decide when the induction ceremony of the student council will be held. The institute has been told by the deputy collector that the induction ceremony should be held between January 30 and February 4. We are satisfied with the outcome of the meeting,” said ABVP’s Sahil Mahajan.
On January 21, members of the ABVP, along with some students of St Xavier’s College, held a protest at the institute’s premises at Mapusa. They claimed that the principal refused to meet them.
The students said that Mahajan was elected general secretary in the student council polls. However, the college was refusing to hold the induction ceremony, which was preventing the students from participating in various inter-collegiate events.
