Marijuana valued at ₹20L seized, 7 held

Jamshedpur: District police have seized 78 kg of marijuana valued at Rs 20 lakh from Baharagora police station limits in Ghatshila sub-division. The SP (rural), Mukesh Kumar, on Sunday, said that the seizure was made on Saturday. Further, the SP said that seven people have been arrested in connection with the smuggling of the banned narcotic substance.
All the accused, including the kingpin, Rajdeep Singh, are residents of Baharagora and Ghatshila police station limits, and they were on board the vehicles that was carrying the marijuana.
The gang had bought the marijuana from a supplier in Vijaynagram, Andhra Pradesh. Stashed in 38 packets, the marijuana was being transported to Jamshedpur, in two separate SUVs. Both the vehicles were intercepted at Kaliadanga Chowk in Baharagora, on a tip off, the SP said.
All accused have been arrested under relevant sections of NDPS Act 1985, and have been forwarded to jail.
