BALLARI: The two-day Ballari Utsav concluded on Sunday evening as a considerable success.
The district administration conducted a cooking competition that got a good response on Sunday. Thirty women participated in the contest.
There was also wrestling matches for men and women and 56 wrestlers participated from across the state.
A dog show saw the participation of Mudhol Hounds, Golden Retrievers, Siberian Huskies, German Shepherds. It attracted a lot of spectators.
Another hit activity was Ballari by Sky, which was an opportunity to enjoy views of Ballari through a helicopter ride.
The district administration started the rides on January 19 and hs said that it will end by January 23.
Over 800 people have taken the chopper rides.
However, at least 1,000 people are waiting to fly.
The helicopter is flying over historic sites in and around Ballari, such as the Ballari fort, Mincheri Hills and Tumti area for six to eight minutes.
"We started early bookings for Ballari by Sky and fixed Rs 3,500 as the price for the ride. At least 1,000 people are waiting to fly now," said Tippeswamy, assistant director of the department of tourism.
Many cultural events were organised at Ballari Raghava Vedike and Joladarashi Doddanagouda Vedike.
Tollywood singer Mangli, sandalwood artistes Arjun Janya and MD Pallavi performed on Saturday night.
Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan performed on Sunday evening.
